Report:             Magpies produced what was their worst performance of the season against a good Kingsthorpe side.  The Magpies were just not interested for the first 20 minutes and allowed Kingsthorpe to race into a comfortable 4-0 lead.  It was only when Kingsthorpe made some substitutes that a few Magpies came to life and Ella found herself scoring twice within the space of a couple of minutes with two powerful runs from midfield and 2 good finishes. 4-2 at half time and the Magpies had a chance to get back into this game but that was blown away in the first 5 minutes of the second half with some awful team play from the Magpies in their own area to give the Kingsthorpe forwards the simplest of finishes.  A good performance from Kingsthorpe and they thoroughly deserved their victory but Magpies you didn’t do yourselves any justice and the effort needs to improve so that you perform how you can and play your passing football.  Heads up and back on track for the next game!

Kingsthorpe LGFC v Moulton Magpies.

Under 13s Mid-Shires League.

Kingsthorpe  Won 6 – 2.

Scorers: Tayler Gregory 2, Joanne Gilding 2, Aneesah Malik and Emma Kallenbach.

Team: Emily Boddington,  Hannah Deane, Courtney Donegal, Lois Donegal, Annabelle Edmunds,  Joanne Gilding, Tayler Gregory, Emma Kallenbach, Emma Lewthwaite,  Aneesah Malik,  Lauren Robinson, Ashlea Rutter, Rebeca Thomas, Beth Watts, Becky Williams.

M.O.M.: Courtney Donegal and Lauren Robinson.  .

Report:  At last a match after all the recent bad weather! Kingsthorpe attacked at pace from the start against a comitted Magpies Team. Tayler hit a hard cross cum shot which curled into the net at pace to give Kingsthorpe the lead. Then, from her excellent cross, Joanne volleyed in to make it 2 – 0. Aneesah, from right back, made a strong run forward and at the second attempt, hit a good shot into the corner. Joanne soon broke away to pick her spot to make it
4 - 0.  Moulton kept their heads up and were rewarded with two quick breakaway goals from Ella, following strong runs and good finishes. Half Time: 4 – 2. The second half was more of an even midfield battle with Magpies holding their own, until a goalmouth scramble saw Tayler poke in from close range. Emma Kallenbach then made a great run from midfield onto a through ball and calmly finished into the corner to complete the scoring. Result 6 -2 to Kingsthorpe after an entertaining match.

Kettering Town v Kingsthorpe LGFC.

Under 13s NTFA CUP

Kingsthorpe  Won 15 – 2.

Scorers: Emily Boddington 7, Joanne Gilding 5, Beth Watts 1, Tayler Gregory 1 and  Own Goals 1.

Team: Emily Boddington, Hannah Deane, , Joanne Gilding, Tayler Gregory,
Emma Kallenbach, Emma Lewthwaite, Aneesah Malik,  Lauren Robinson, Micha Stuart, Rebeca Thomas, Beth Watts, Becky Williams.

M.O.M.:   Beth Watts.

Report:  Old rivals Kettering and Kingsthorpe met in the NTFA Cup Round 1 at Kettering. Despite starting with 10 players Kingsthorpe attacking pace troubled Kettering’s defence and they were soon 2 goals ahead. Remaining players arrived and a full strength Kingsthorpe attacked with purpose and increased the lead to 5 goals before Kettering replied with a good goal. By half time the lead was stretched to 7 – 1 with Emily having scored 4 times. Kettering pressed at the start of 2nd half and a good strike from Simran made it 7-2. Jo then scored 3 goals in succession for Kingsthorpe and a further 5 goals made the final score 15 – 2. Most of Kingsthorpe’s attacking moves were started by Beth Watts who played superb through balls for the speedy Kingsthorpe forwards to chase, her best game of the season by far. Kettering’s goalkeeper played well with little support apart from a solid performance from her right back.

Report: Another great team performance from Cougars with Chloe Welsh scoring within minutes of kick off. Lauran Dempsey and Keeley Samuels were relentless in midfield keeping Moulton on their toes throughout the game but Moulton equalised with a quick reaction goal in the box. Cougars kept their heads and Ellie Martin slotted one in before half time. In the second half Moulton looked like they could come back but Chloe Welsh kept the attack on the wings constant. Some fine runs from Chelsea Welsh resulted in her scoring the third after some close misses. A fantastic game of football from both teams and a warm welcolme from Magpies made the day. Well Done

Report:                          An even game with a good Kingswood side.  The Magpies started slowly and were 1-0 down within 2 minutes.  Magpies rallied and played some really good stuff, peppering the Kingswood goal and putting them under some sustained pressure.  Magpies equalised through Ella who got her body to a good in-swinging corner from Lauren to force the ball home. This got Kingswood going again and they hit the Magpies crossbar and then finally going into the lead with a good worked goal a few minutes before half time.

The second half was similar to the 1st in both teams really going for broke and there were some excellent periods of play from both teams.  Both teams hit the woodwork on 2 occasions each and having numerous chances each.  Magpies continued to press for the equaliser and in the last minute Kingswood put the game out of reach with a good solo effort for a 3-1 score-line.  Well played both teams an enjoyable morning with some competitive and good football being played.

Report: A tight game with a strong Bedford side.  The Magpies defended superbly as a team and limited Bedford to only a couple of 1st half chances.  A good finish from Kiah though gave Bedford a 1-0 half time lead.  Magpies created a couple of attacking opportunities but Bedford were strong in defence.  The second half was a pretty even game with both sides having chances.  Bedford kept up the pressure and in the end got a second with a fortunate own goal.  Well played Magpies keep up the good work and keep trying to play your passing game.

Corby Kingswood Cougars vs Kingsthorpe.

Under 13s LEAGUE

Kingsthorpe won 2 – 1.

Scorers: 2 Own Goals.

Team: Emily Boddington, Courtney Donegal, Lois Donegal, Annabelle Edmunds, Joanne Gilding, Emma Kallenbach, Emma Lewthwaite, Aneesah Malik, Lauren Robinson, Ashlea Rutter, Micha Stuart, Rebeca Thomas, Bethany Watts, Becky Williams.

M.O.M.:  Emma Kallenbach

Report: Despite the match being played on a very muddy pitch, Kingsthorpe played superb passing football in the first half, creating many chances. Only the Cougars’ keeper, the crossbar, twice, and  some indifferent shooting kept Cougars goal intact. Just before the break Ellie, Cougars free scoring striker hit a fierce shot which hit the crossbar and the post and was adjudged to have crossed the line. H.T. 1 – 0  to Cougars.  Second half started much the same and Cougars keeper again kept her team in the lead. However Kingsthorpe’s  luck changed with 20 minutes to go when a strong run down the right and good pull back saw a Cougars’ defender turn the ball past her keeper for the equaliser. Kingsthorpe went for the win to keep up their 100% league record. With time running out, a run and cross from the left was again inadvertently turned into the Cougars net for the winner. A hard fought game by two well matched teams. Emma Kallenbach in midfield , had her best game for Kingsthorpe and was a well deserved player of the match for her tireless workrate.

Report:                          A tight contest between 2 evenly matched teams.  Magpies with a reduced squad were only able to field 10 players but started brightly and after a Kettering close shave in the first minute managed to take the game to Kettering and went close several times.  Most notably with Ollie and Georgia both having good opportunities that they failed to convert!  The break-through came when Katie produced a great cross from the right flank and found Ollie free who promptly despatched the ball into the back of the net with a clinical finish. Kettering got themselves level just before the half when the Magpies failed to clear the ball after a superb save from Kirsty.  In the second half Kettering went close on several occasions but on the whole Magpies defended stoutly and were backed up with some fine saves from Kirsty.  The Magpies midfield continually closed down and caused Kettering problems going forward and in the last 5 minutes Georgia played a ball into Ollie’s path and she made no mistake tucking the ball into the bottom corner for a final score of 2-1.

Report: Kingsthorpe attacked from the start and caused the excellent Bedford Team some problems with their pace. Joanne outpaced the defence to give Kingsthorpe the lead before Kiah replied for Bedford to level the scores. Joanne quickly pounced on a mistake to restore the lead and just before half time Kiah scored her second with a clever header to make it 2 – 2 at the break.  Bedford capitalised on some hesitant defending in Kingsthorpe’s penalty area to lead 4 -2. Back came Kingsthorpe and Beth had a fine shot saved by Bedford’s keeper and Emily was on hand to pounce on the rebound and make it 4 – 3. Kingsthorpe pressed for the equaliser but with a minute to go Grace broke away to score and settle the match 5 – 3 to Bedford. Report:                          Magpies entertained a spirited Brackley side. What a difference the day made to the weather and the game was played in perfect conditions for football.  Magpies started brightly with some superb passing moves between Ollie, Hannah, Lauren & Katie.  Brackley looked dangerous on the break with the pace of the right winger to be dealt with constantly.  Once Ella had made the breakthrough with a superb solo run and finish the Magpies never looked back and their confidence grew.  The introduction of the subs halfway through the first half gave the Magpies fresh impetus and it wasn’t long before Georgia struck after some excellent work from Lauren who played a superb threw ball for Georgia to strike home from 12 yards.  Georgia struck again moments later from distance and again moments later when a nice layup from Alison from a corner gave her the easiest of finishes from 6 yards.  Toni then got in on the act with delightful finish after good work from Weronika and Ella released Toni who beat the last defender before striking into the top corner. Moments later Georgia found the net again with a clinical strike from the edge of the box. The Brackley players kept going and still threatened and a double save from Kirsty and some good defending from Latisha was called for to enable Magpies to keep a clean sheet going into the interval.

The Second half gave the Brackley players the opportunity to regroup and for the first 10 minutes pegged the Magpies back into their own half.  Then the Magpies appeared to start passing the ball again and several players went close to scoring.  The ball fell to Georgia just inside the Brackley half she evaded the defender before firing home for her fifth and final goal as she then took over goalkeeper duties from Kirsty.  There were some excellent chances for the Magpies and Ollie and Katie both went close before Ella came back on to get her 2nd after a lovely little flick through from Ollie and thunderous volley from Ella left the impressive Opehlia in the Brackley goal with little chance.  There were good chances for Chloe, Hannah, Rachel and Lauren to get on the score sheet but they were denied by some resolute Brackley defending.  Kirsty then saw her drive whiz by the post before Toni wrapped up the scoring with a cool finish into the bottom corner. Final Score 9-0 and some excellent play from the Magpies and indeed some stoute defending and some good counter attacking from Brackley.  Brackley girls you are a credit to Graham and stand in for the day Pete.  Keep smiling and keep enjoying your football.

M.O.M.:  Courtney Donegal & Aneesah Malik.

Report: Probably Kingsthorpe’s best performance of the season to date. Kicking against a very strong wind in the first half they played good passing football along the ground to take a 2.0 lead with well worked goals. A dubious penalty gave Hellenic a lifeline and the well taken kick gave home keeper Micha no chance. Another well worked goal made it 3.1 at half time. With the wind in the 2nd half Kingsthorpe pressed relentlessly and added 3 more goals to finish off a great team display with all 16 squad players playing their part. Special mention for Courtney, Aneesah and Lauren for their excellent defending against the wind in the first period against a lively Corby front line.

Report: A super match played in excellent weather with a great spirit shown by both teams. Despite the score line, Brackley kept their heads up and tried to play football from start to finish and their keeper Ophelia was outstanding and courageous. Kingsthorpe pressed from the start and once Tayler scored the first with a powerful shot the result was never in question. The players held their shape and with good passing and finishing were 7.0 up at half time. The second half started with Brackley showing great resilience but when Emily scored after 5 minutes the goals flowed with a final result of 15.0 to Kingsthorpe to continue their unbeaten start to the season. There will be tougher games ahead and the team will need to continue their improvement in training.

Report: The game started well for the home creating a few good early chances, Kingsthorpe took a well deserved lead after 15 minutes play. The physical Duston team come fighting back and attacked from the wings putting Kingsthorpe on the back foot which lead to a fair penalty decision being rewarded and putting the penalty kick put away. The 43 minute first half ended 1 – 1.

The second half was much more of a physical battle for Kingsthorpe as the as the visitors pressed and attacked in true Duston style, the pressure soon paid off when Duston took the lead 2 – 1. The score line stayed much the same through the second half but the determination and strong character from Kingsthorpe kept going.

A great strike and that was saved but followed up for a goal line equaliser put the game to a draw and minutes to play Kingsthorpe pressed once more by a decent cross into the box and put away with ease for the winner!

Well done Kingsthorpe you all deserved it.

Report:             Magpies entertained the superb Peterborough this week and put in their best performance of the season by a mile.  Putting the disappointment of the performance from last week behind them Magpies harried, hustled and kept going to the very end to give Peterborough a difficult game!  Peterborough had a couple of early chances as did Magpies but both keepers were up to the task.  Peterborough managed to break the deadlock with 10 minutes of the first half remaining with a good finish from the Peterborough forward.  After an even first half Peterborough took control for the first 15 minutes of the second half and had a good couple of chances that were missed or saved from the excellent Kirsty.  Magpies continued to look dangerous when they could get forward in numbers and put the Peterborough girls under some pressure which resulted in a series of goal area and goal mouth incidents, unfortunately Magpies couldn’t convert their chances.  There were some excellent performances throughout the Magpies team and more of the same please girls.  Well done Peterborough a very enjoyable game and joy to watch football being played the right way.

Report:  A good game between the Cougars and the Magpies with the Cougars having a having a bigger bite than the Magpies this week.  Magpies had a couple of early opportunities that they couldn’t convert, before the Cougars finished excellently to go into the break 1-0 up.  The second half saw the cougars quickly double their lead and but for some excellent defending and goalkeeping the Magpies could have been out of the game after the 1st 5 minutes of the second half.  The big pitch started to show on the Magpies and the Cougars took control of the midfield and went 4-0 up before the Magpies got back into the game after some good work from Lauren T and Georgia setting up Ollie for a nice finish.  Magpies then had a series of efforts that they couldn’t convert and finished the game looking for more goals but in the end a fair result and a good Cougar victory.  Well done both sides, it was an enjoyable game and a lot of effort from all players.

Report: A great game of football between two well matched sides but some strong defending from Cougars especially Alix Crane prevented Magpies from scoring in the first half. However with Ellie Martin on top form, Magpies goalkeeper worked well to stop her from scoring more than she did. With some great work on the wings in the second from Sophie Williams Cougars notched up two more from Chelsea Welsh, although tired legs began to show and Magpies slipped one past the goalie. Well done to Magpies who never gave up and made the home team work right up to the final whistle.

Report: Corby Hellenic Girls were into their stride from the start. Corby opened the scoring with a great goal from Megan Addy. Corby continued to pressure Aztec with some great football, working the ball wide on both sides and playing some of their best football of the season and Addy scored her second, Sophie Findlay kept the pressure on Aztec with some great runs and missing many chances and carried out some great defending  for Corby, in the second half, Corby started extremely strongly, totally focused and challenging and winning ever ball in midfield with Aztec having to make some great saves and good defending, Jodie Forbes scored a great goal to make it 3-0 to Corby, Aztec were then rewarded a goal from wining the ball from a Corby’s throw in, Aztec started to come back but Corby’s defence carried out some great defending . Megan Addy scored her hat-trick from a great corner bending the ball into the corner of the goal to seal a 4-1 win for Corby. Hellenic missed many opportunities throughout the game. This was a great game of football with Corby being in their first season, but we must give Aztec credit as the girls kept their heads up and played some very good football making it a very exciting game to watch.

Report:             Kettering got off to a flying start and nabbed a well taken goal by Simran Kang after only a couple of minutes. Peterborough was up to the challenge and quickly got back in the game with some slick passing leaving Kettering stranded. Time and again Peterborough managed to break free from midfield leaving the defence out numbered. Kettering did manage some attacks but they were too few. Once the girls let their heads go down it was only going to be 1 result. Even though we went down to 10 players I know you have the ability to deal with that. We need to commit as a team. We gave them too much time on the ball and failed time and again to follow up any challenges. Well Done to Kirsty and Charlie for attitude and commitment.

Report:             POSH were caught snoozing as Kettering thumped home the opening goal within a minute of kicking off. This, however was to be the hosts only fortune in front of goal as POSH progressively tightened their grip on the game.

Kettering battled on but were unable to replicate their early form  or pressure the visitors thus allowing them too much time and space on the ball. POSH's Kirstie Davis and Maria Butler dominated the midfield and fed through some killer balls that proved too much for Towns defense and able keeper. Hat-tricks for Mundo and Parrett and with Blackbird, Hunter and Elsom also finding the net, POSH finally romped home 11 -1 to secure their 4th win of the season.

Every player pulled together as a team and deservedly got a further 9 in the 2nd half with a great performance and 6 goals from MOM Sharee.. The Brackley keeper pulled off some great saves throughout the game to stop some Duston shots. Rovers now need to maintain this level and keep self belief to capitalise on todays performance. Report: Game started even for both teams but the visitors having the more attacking edge, an early goal settled some nerves and this encouraged Kingsthorpe to play a team game. Good possession play limited Moulton’s chances but the home team never gave up the attack, a second goal towards the end in the first gave Kingsthorpe a 0 – 2 lead into the break.

Mouton came out in the second a more attacking mind and took the fight to the visitors but a strong Kingsthorpe defence kept there chances to a minimum and turned defence into attack, with good build play Kingsthorpe were unable to make good from several chances given to them. Visitors managed to get a 3rd goal to take the game further away from home team but Moulton kept playing until end whistle.

Well done Kingsthorpe keep all of you’re hard work going at training.

Report:             POSH made hard work of their first away fixture of the season as they travelled to Northampton to face Duston Rovers. Despite the sloped advantage in the first half POSH failed to play to their strengths and only found the net from a long ball met with pace. The POSH back four however were resolute and with-held the frequent counter-attacks of a very defensive Duston.

After a scrappy first half the game delivered much of the same in the second until POSH gained more possession and applied pressure. Rachel Jeffries-Harris, making her league debut met balls decisively and positively as POSH tried to extend their lead. With the ball on the floor the visitors looked in control as Alessia Mundo fired home from the edge of the box to secure the points with quarter of an hour to go. Final score Duston Rovers 0 PUFC 2

REPORT

Duston  turned up for the game half asleep today, and despite holding the score at 0-0 for 30 mins a defensive error gave Peterborough the lead just before half time. The 2nd half didn’t see much improvement, although Sharee and Shanice  ran their socks off causing Peterborough some problems, but a 2nd goal followed after some poor midfield play.  MOM Chloe and Keeper Darcy kept the score to 2 and played some good football. Report:                        A good game between 2 closely matched sides.  The wind played a massive factor.  0-0 at half time and though Kettering had much of the play they only managed one shot to trouble the stand in keeper in the first half.  Magpies had 5 good opportunities and again the chances went begging.  In the 2nd half Kettering broke away and their centre forward showed a clean pair of heels twice with 2 good finishes to put them 2-0 up.  Magpies got back into the game with a wind assisted goal from Latisha on the half way line and from then on Magpies searched for the equaliser and a good ball put in by Rachel found Lauren ho lashed the ball home from 6 yards.  Magpies then had several chances and a goal disallowed, but the score stayed a fair 2-2.  Well done all girls.

Report:                        A close match with Aztec going into the break with a deserved 1-0 lead. The Magpies woke up for the second half and took the game to Aztec and were soon 2-1 up with some good football producing the opportunities. After going 2-1 up the Magpies went back to sleep for a minute and Aztec capitalised on a string of mistakes.  There was then some good end to end attacking from both sides with several opportunities from both sides going begging.  To coin a cliché Magpies – a game of 2 halves!

MATCH REPORT from Peterborough United Girls F.C. U13
Manager Justine Steele

Sun 27 Sep 2009
PUGirlsFC v Corby Kingswood @ Queens Park, Yaxley.

Finally, the first day of the season had arrived for the U13 POSH
squad in the newly formed Mid-Shires Girls Football League. POSH
entertained the home supporters as they faced a weakened by 'swine
flu', Corby Kingswood side.
Starting promptly, the game remained goalless for much of the first
half until Megan Parrett cleverly back-heeled to supporting Jess
Blackbird who delivered the cross for Keir Perkins to knock in.
Minutes later Perkins hit the back of the net again with a well taken
half-volley. Seemingly spurred on by the two goal deficit Corby hit
back immediately and halved the home sides advantage only to concede a
penalty just before half time. Perkins stepped up and
secured a 3-1 lead at the break.
More frequent goals in the second half piled on the pressure for Corby
and as POSH found the net with strikes from all over midfield the game
was soon out of reach for the tiring visitors. Credit to Corby who
were defiant and fought well, played with admirable spirit and worked
hard to create opportunities of their own. The POSH defence however,
were strong and dependable and keeper Katie Plumb collected and
distributed positively and comfortably from the edge of her box. Final
score PUFC 11 Corby Kingswood 1
POSH look forward to visiting to Duston next week.

The game was from end to end and the Kingsthorpe team failed to make good from several chances in front of goal but with good pass and movement were able to make good of the attacks to the Kettering goal.

The 10 player Kettering team managed to get a goal in the last five minutes of the game, and it was the best goal of the game a cracking half volley (Great Goal) Good fighting spirit Kettering Well done.
