Report: An exciting game of football that could have gone either way. Magpies had most of the attacking play with Kingsthorpe soaking up the pressure but catching Moulton on the break going in 2-0 at half time. The second half continued in the same way – but Magpies made the most of their possession through Cummins finishing off some great play on the left. Ainsworth was unlucky in the dying minutes seeing her free kick ably saved by the Kingsthorpe keeper. Special mentions to Crook for going in goal due to an injured foot, Collyer for playing whilst feeling sick and H Dowling for superb mid-field display.

Report: A great game of football played by both teams. Kingswood’s Nicola Pringle
opened the scoring with a strike inside the Volta box. Volta equalised soon after, Kingswood
retook the lead when Eleanor Rogerson scored after a great run from midfield. Volta then
rallied and scored 3 goals before half time giving them a 4-2 lead. In the 2nd half Kingswood
worked hard to get back into the game. Emma Hamilton scored Kingswood’s 3rd from a tight
angle followed by Channon Wright slotting the ball past the Volta Keeper to make it 4-4 with
the winner being scored by Pringle from a sweet shot outside the box. With great defending
from Kingswood to stop Volta drawing the match, Kingswood went home with all 3 points.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Generals started the better and out played Belles for the first 20 mins and looked dangerous in attack. Generals came close to scoring in open play from Rebecca Dowling , Abby Callaghan, Chelsea Towns and Mica Clayton. Belles came into the game and nearly took the lead when clean through on goal until their shot was straight at Keeper Millie Boddington. Generals looked dangerous from corners and had 3 corners on the trot and each one nearly going in. With Belles now equally in the game it became end to end as they went into the break 0-0. The 2nd half started as the 1st finished, with Belles playing good football they found themselves having more attacks and the Generals defence were under pressure and with 20 mins to go City Belles opened the scoring when a lofted ball over the top that split Generals and the Belles player coolly finished to make it 1-0. The next 10 mins were quiet and then Generals Kerryn Copeland turned defence into attack found Rebecca Dowling whose great run rode two strong tackles got to the by-line and crossed for Amy Stokes to score with her right foot to equalise. Generals nearly snuck all 3 points when coming close from 2 corners late on with the impressive Abby Callaghan heading just over. The draw a fair result.06/02/10

Report: Rothwell Town stepped up their game and had their best game in about two months. They passed the ball around well, looked organised at the back and created chances. Rothwell Town came close to scoring 3 times with Hannah Coles, Eleanor Meredith and also Martha Hart whose shot was finely saved by the Desborough goalkeeper. However they just don’t seem to have the luck of the game at the moment and were unable to convert and respond to Desborough’s two goals.

Report: A dogged performance from Moulton against a very resilient Desborough team. Magpies were made to work hard with little reward for their efforts until Collyer hit a drive from outside the area which managed to avoid defenders, keeper and getting stuck in the mud! Moulton had more defending to do in the second half but still missed opportunities to extend their lead including a saved penalty. Report: Leighton were unfortunate to meet a Billing team at the top of their game. From defence through to attack, Billing put in one of their best performances of the season. Having said that, Leighton made Billing work for every goal. Kelly Rickwood had a hand in each of the goals, scoring the first from a hard strike outside the area. The second goal was a superb lob from Leigh-Anne Trigg after Kelly had been thwarted by the brave Leighton keeper. In the second half, Kelly bagged a couple more after nice Billing interplay and set up Hannah Glasspool to score in the far corner. The Billing defence were excellent throughout, tackling hard, supporting each other, and clearing intelligently, while the midfield quartet of Chloe Lavelle, Claire Simpson, Leigh-Anne Trigg, and Devon Ferguson (POM) worked tirelessly to win the midfield battle. To their credit, Leighton kept fighting to the end and were rewarded with the last goal of the game.

Generals dominated the 1st half but only had a Rebecca Dowling goal to show for their efforts with Dowling, Towns and Clayton coming close. The 2nd half sprung to life when a battling Duston side found a equaliser on two occasions, a Mica Clayton goal from a corner beating the Knights keeper at her near post for Generals 2nd . Generals showed no signs of letting this tie go and a wonder goal from Mica Clayton, a curling right foot effort that found the top corner to restore Generals lead at 3-2. Further goals from Amy Stokes and Abby Callaghan made it 5-2. Clayton topped other efforts from Emma Robinson and Millie Boddington when she switched the ball from her right foot to left for a rasping drive that Duston keeper saved to her right as it finished 5-2 to the Kettering side.

Report: Billing booked their passage to the NTFA cup semi-finals with a hard-fought win over Kingsthorpe. A common theme for this season, Billing had to come from behind to secure the victory. Midway through the first half, Kingsthorpe took the lead with an excellent goal. Billing responded with Lisa Kennedy (POM) and Becky Birch prominent but it was Kelly Rickwood who stroked in the equaliser just before half time. The beginning of the second half saw prolonged Billing pressure but the ball would not go in the net. With 15 minutes left, and extra time looking a possibility, Kelly Rickwood broke through, rounded the keeper, and slotted the ball home. Within minutes, Hannah Glasspool had added a third and Billing looked comfortable for the first time in the match. Kingsthorpe had other ideas though, pushing forward and scoring again to make the final minutes a tense affair. Considering neither team had played for over a month, this was an excellent effort by both teams and the game was a credit to girls football.

Report: Meeting for the third time already this season and Rothwell again short on numbers, Magpies dominated the first half playing some good passing football. M Dowling opened the scoring for Moulton within the first couple of minutes following some excellent work by Donnelly on the right wing. Donnelly was unlucky not to be on the score-sheet as she had a number of opportunities thwarted by goal keeper and crossbar, before Dando went on the rampage scoring 4 before half-time. Second half, Rothwell defended in numbers before Collyer broke through finishing with a left-footed strike. Dando then finished in style scoring her fifth and Magpies’ seventh.

Billing had started slowly and were made to pay by incisive attacks and good finishing by the Corby forwards. Billing raised their game in the second half but had given themselves too much to do against an organised Corby defence. Volta came out strongly after the break and it was no surprise they levelled the game, which set up a frantic last 10 minutes. In closely fought game the action was end to end . Both teams had chances in the first half , the better chances fell to S & L, one when it looked like a S & L were one on one Emma Robinson came across to clear the danger, secondly an outstanding save by Amelia Boddington denied the corby side at her near post. S & L had the ball in the net only for it to be dissallowed, from a corner the ball was cleared by Generals and the ball was played back in only for an S&L player to be offside who touched onto a team mate who fired in after a scramble. The 2nd half again was end to end and Generals came close to scoring, Charley Toseland heading narrowly wide from a Emma Robinson corner. Charley Toseland came close from two further corners and in open play she managed to shoot wide with an open goal begging. A terrible mix up from a goal kick late on gave an S&L player a chance to score and take all three points but for a good save from Chelsea Towns just as it looked like it was going into the top corner. Overall a fair result which finished 0-0.

A game played in terrible conditions went the way of the Corby side who dealt with the conditions quicker and better than Generals . The football at times was not pretty due to the wind and S & L took a 3 nil lead at half time, Generals best chance came from Rebecca Dowling whose goal bound effort was taken wide by the wind. The 2nd half Generals had the wind in their favour but S&L stood firm ,with Generals pushing forward S&L hit on the break and scored to make it 4-0. Generals had to rely on stand in keeper Nancy Burrows to pull of some saves one from a penalty and a fantastic double save. A fantastic effort from both teams in bad conditions but 3-0 down at halftime gave Generals too much to do but they gave it their all in both halves.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team: Barford, Sterling, Kennedy, Trigg, Tweedale, Lavelle, Ferguson, Birch, Jessop, Simpson, Rickwood.

Report: A scrappy match that ended with a well deserved Crawley win, Billing shaded the first half and took the lead with a goal However Crawley came back strongly and stole the game with a goal from a free kick. Despite a number of opportunities and a stong MOM from Jessop Billing could not turn possession into goals and now look to bounce back against Woburn in the cup this weekend.

Two excellent strikes from M Dowling and E Crook, both from distance added to the scoreline before half-time. NTFA Cup Under 15’s First Round
Rothwell Town Ladies FC
Lost 4-0 to Kettering Town
Scorers:
Team: Sophie Ayres, Stacie Franks, Beth Bowyer, Pebbles Herbert, Bethanie Hutchinson, Katie Canham, Eleanor Meredith, Hannah Coles, Liana Palombi, Melissa Hogg, Danielle Shield
MOM: the whole team
Report: This was always going to be a difficult game as Rothwel Town drew a very good first division side in the cup. The first half saw Rothwell battle well as a team winning all 50:50 challenges and getting first to every ball. During the first half you could not tell that Rothwell were a division below Kettering, as Rothwell held Kettering well and they even created a few scoring chances. Despite Sophie Ayres playing brilliant in goal and Melissa Hogg clearing 2 off the line Rothwell just could not stop Kettering from scoring. Kettering Town picked up their game and passed the ball around well and managed to break through Rothwell after about an hour of play. The whole Rothwell team showed great team spirit, strength and determination as each and every player fought hard to the end.

Corby came into the game full of confidence after two consecutive wins; the game started with Corby on the attack from the first whistle and was rewarded with a goal from team captain Toni Winch after about ten minutes. Corby defended really well and gave Crawley no chances at goal. Half way through the second half Corby were giving a corner and a superb header from the right back Claire Devenney to score her first ever goal for Madrid. Another superb strike from Rebecca Meeks gave Madrid a 3 – 0 lead at half time.
Second half started with more effort from a Crawley side who tried to mount pressure on a well organised defence but to no avail until a corner in the 20th minute of the second half and a well placed delivery onto the head of a Crawley player to make the score 3 – 1 .Corby rallied again for another Corby goal scored by Rebecca Elliot.

attacking and defending well. Kingswood opened the scoring with a goal from
Nicola Pringle, who soon added a 2nd with a fine run to fire in a great goal.
The 2nd half Rothwell pressured but the Kingswood defence and keeper kept
Rothwell out. Eleanor Rogerson made it 3-0 after a outstanding run and

Rothwell keeper making some great saves. A great Kingswood team performance.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With both teams going into the game unbeaten the game was a tight affair with more of the chances coming 2nd half , although both sides should have scored in the first half. Generals coming close in the opening minutes when a great ball across the box could not be tapped into a open goal & Billing had a penalty saved by Chelsea Towns. Generals started the 2nd half the better and played with more purpose but could not convert their territorial advantage. Billing raised their game and soon found chances ,one effort fantastically saved by Millie Boddington .Billing went ahead when out of nowhere a Billing player managed to get through one on one and neatly finished after rounding the keeper. For the next few attacks Generals did struggle to cope in defence but found they were still having chances and from a corner came close to scoring. Good Generals pressure paid off when a corner from Mica Clayton was flicked goalwards by Abby Callaghan which was then turned into their own net by a Billing player as it finished one each----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MOM: Roisin Burton
Report:
This was a game of two halves, Volta were really into their stride from the whistle, and after a fine move though the centre were 1 – 0 up within the first 2 minutes when Leah Fisher converted. Volta continued to pressurise Woburn and should have made it 2 – 0 after 10 minutes. However, Woburn settled and played some fine football, working the ball wide on both sides and were only stopped from equalising with a couple of fine saves from Shannon Kelland, however, with another fine move through the middle they were rewarded with an equaliser on the twenty minute mark. Unfortunately for Woburn one of their players were injured and as a result of this were down to ten men, Volta took full advantage playing some of their best football of the season and Fisher scored her second to put Volta into the lead again. A further bout of pressure, which saw Hannah Love finish of a fine run had Volta go to the break 3 – 1 up.
The second half had Woburn starting extremely strongly, totally committed and challenging and winning ever ball, Volta started as if the game was already won and paid the penalty when Woburn scored twice within ten minutes to make the score 3 – 3. Further pressure and fine football from Woburn meant Kelland needed to make a couple of fine saves to keep Volta in the game, but in the final 5 minutes Woburn took the lead. Volta seemed to respond but alas could not equalise, a hard lesson should be learned to play for the full 80 minutes and not take anything for granted

Report:
A really exciting and entertaining match, which could easily have been won by either side! 10 men Volta were in top gear from the start and played some excellent football playing the ball wide to both wings and were unlucky not to take the lead within 20 minutes, however, Rothwell made a counter attack and the save of the match was made by stand in keeper Shannon Kelland. The sides went to the break at 0 – 0. The second half again saw both teams playing attacking football and Emily Zdunczyk again came close to making it 1 – 0 to Volta, again a move against the run of play had Rothwell make a strong move through the centre, which in turn they converted. Volta pressured for the final 10 minutes, but could not breech the defence and the final whistle went, leaving the score 1 – 0 to Rothwell when a fair result would have been a draw, such is football

Persistent pressure from Cummins earned her a goal before half time. Dominant play by Magpies was rewarded through Cummins second of the match - both forwards having been denied by the Kingswood keeper. Corby then scored through a couple of late breakaways but a good save by Pacey in goal prevented them making the scoreline closer.
