Report: A very hard fought match from both sides. Kingswood opened the scoring with Elliot slotting the ball home from a great cross from Honeyman, Desborough equalised soon after then scored a second. Honeyman made it 2-2 before half time drilling the ball into the bottom corner. The second half saw Desborough take the lead. Kingswood pressured the Desborough goal but could not find a way through, then Briana Rogerson burst through from midfield and into the Desborough box only to be brought down, Kingswood were awarded a penalty Honeyman the Kingswood Captain stepped up and scored a great penalty giving the Desborough keeper no chance. 3-3 the final score.

Report: First game of the season and with only ten fit players Corby struggled to cope with the Woburn attack. With no recognised goalkeeper Claire volunteered to keep goal. Woburn struck with three early goals. With Corby three down they were never out as they played the much better football. Just before half time Corby scored a vital goal to raise the confidence of the girls.

Second half started and Corby came out fighting and with Team Captain Toni moving into the midfield Corby took hold of the game and put the pressure on the Woburn defence and it paid off with some lovely passing led to a second goal for Corby. At this point Woburn responded but some excellent defensive work kept the attackers quite. Corby eventually got their third with an own goal from Woburn from more pressure from Corby. Corby had much of the play in the last ten minutes and could of stole all of the points but a superb save from Woburn goalkeeper kept it to a draw.
Overall good game well done to both teams for an entertaining game.

Team: Shelley Barker, Charlotte Burgess, Jasmine Ghayour, Charlotte Handy, Amie Melvin, Laura Nibloe, Christine O’Brien, Zoe Pallett, Rebecca Rogers, Georgia Timson, Chloe Weston,

Subs: Rebecca Willis.

MOM: Chloe Weston.

Report: Our coach felt very let down by the refereeing of the game.  The game was allowed to continue leading to Corby’s second goal, while we had a player down with a head injury. Play should have been stopped. When Desborough went 3-2 up, in our view, the game was extended by the referee past normal full time, in an effort to let Corby pull level. He awarded a penalty to Corby late on in the game to draw the match for a tackle that was not deemed to be a penalty.

Netherton Diamonds

Beat Kettering 5-1

Scorers: - Leah Cudone x 3 – Cassie Steward x 2

Team: - Jade Ramm, Elizabeth Walker, Keisha Tyson, Beianca Kennewell, Kasida Johnson, Elisha Coleman, Loretta Burdge, Cassie Steward, Jennifer Webb, Abigale Pearson, Leah Cudone.

MOM: - Leah Cudone

Referee: - David Williams

Report: - Kettering started off brightly in this game and took a lead before the home side had settled down. Once the Diamonds had sorted out a few positional places involving their new players they soon got into their stride and constantly breached the Kettering defence.

Leah Cudone and Cassie Steward always looked a threat with their pace and with Leah coming in with three goals and Cassie two, this was the difference between two evenly matched teams.

Report: - Rothwell Town started strong and for the first 10 minutes they were the team on top.  Duston scored their first goal then Rothwell almost equalised when Eleanor Meredith had a shot cleared off the line.  Unfortunately after clearing the ball Duston scored their second on the counter attack.  After Rothwell conceded the 2nd their heads dropped and Duston took advantage and stepped up their game and dominated.  Pebbles Herbert who played her first game as captain worked tirelessly throughout and led by example.

Match Report: -

Volta started brightly, making a number of chances within the first 10 minutes, with Fisher, Kelland and Zdunczyk all shooting wide of the post.  Leighton Utd weathered the pressure, with their arial dominance being a telling factor, which helped then settle and assisting in them playing some good football and creating some opportunities themselves.  On the stroke of the half hour mark forced changes, due to injuries to Carter and Zdunczyk saw Volta lose concentration and concede 2 goals before the break.

The second half had futher changes to the Volta line-up and a couple of players playing out of position, this resulted in a third goal within 5 minutes of the restart.  Volta settled and started to again create chances, Fisher in particular striking the ball well, but she could not find the target.  Leighton Utd were again strong in the air, which helped put them on the front foot, although Volta kept counter-attacking.  By the final 3rd of the match Volta were running on empty and conceded a further 2 goals in the space of 5 minutes.  Captain Conboy rallied the team and Volta placed pressure on Leighton for the final 10 minutes, with one fine run from the re-introduced Carter, who ran down the right wing and then cut inside and back outside and shot just inside the box and hit the upright.  Volta competed right to the final whistle, but the score line did not really reflect the game, with the score being 0 – 5 to Leighton Utd.
